Case studies

Inside Out

National charity InsideOUT Kōaro works to make Aotearoa safer for rainbow and takatāpui people, and required their existing WordPress website to be made fully accessible. We improved the site’s speed by reviewing and removing unnecessary plugins and upgrading its hosting to one of our Kinsta packages. We extensively revised the site’s code and onscreen elements including fonts, colours, navigation, interactive elements and video modules. The refreshed site upgrades the legacy content and functionality so it meets WCAG accessibility standards.

Boulcott Hospital

Following a change in ownership, Hutt Valley private hospital Boulcott Hospital needed to relocate its website hosting and to present updated content to better reflect its areas of specialisation and standing in the local community. We delivered a new site with updated IA and content recommendations and a design that supported Boulcott’s brand. We replaced their legacy intranet system with a web-based WordPress solution which is less expensive and simpler to configure. The new site better guides patients, clients and health professionals, and is easier for staff to maintain. The intranet manages user permissions to deliver PDF timesheets to staff and Microsoft Power BI reports to senior staff and board members.

EECA

The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority needed to develop labelling systems for vehicle fuel economy and emissions. Webstruxure developed online tools for the Motor Industry Association and its members and used import certifiers to capture data for new vehicles and link this to the NZTA Motor Vehicle registry. We developed a digital image service that allows dealers to print and update labels and a tool that allows auditors to use their phone to report non-compliance. We maintain this labelling information service for EECA which ships between eight and 12 million transactions per month and references a database of 5.5 million vehicles.

Continual improvement

Webstruxure’s development approach is interative. Our continuous improvement process is an ongoing approach to enhance projects’ quality and performance over time.

Case studies

Tall Poppy

Nationwide real estate agency Tall Poppy provides customers with a more transparent service for residential sales. Webstruxure helped the agency collate sales information by integrating their reporting systems. We built a relational database hosted on the Microsoft SQL Server platform and used APIs to output the operational data in a useful form via a reporting app, dashboard and emails.

NZTA

NZTA Rightcar needed to collect vehicle data and publish it as safety ratings to encourage better choices for people buying a vehicle. Webstruxure developed tools and a website that assigns laboratory and real-world safety data to over 95% of new, used and imported vehicles in New Zealand. This allows ratings to be used as a general comparison tool for vehicles on Rightcar as well as sites like TradeMe.

CEP

Carbon and Energy Professionals NZ needed to better manage and promote their memberships and partnerships. We delivered a WordPress solution that uses BuddyBoss for its membership management features and easy user interface; WooCommerce for memberships and training; and a custom built plugin for Continuing Professional Development. The new site allows CEP to administer memberships, job listings, newsletters and more, all in-house, and has improved member traffic.

Dewar Law

A legal firm working in a competitive local field, Dewar Law required a refreshed website with improved search ranking that incorporated rich links to a third-party provider, Settify. After scoping the client’s requirements we recommended switching platforms from DNN to the WordPress CMS. We incorporated the client’s refreshed branding with new information architecture, SEO copywriting and metatags to optimise the site for search engines and ensure traffic was retained after switchover. The new site ranks highly on chosen search terms and can be easily updated as required.

PCL Contracting

PCL Contracting engaged Webstruxure to develop an online timesheet system to replace their paper timesheets. As the business grew this timesheet project evolved into an end-to-end business logistics solution. Client spreadsheets are uploaded to generate quotes which can be updated as required. As work proceeds foremen can access detailed job information including costs and resources, allowing PCL and their clients to track progress. Webstruxure works with the client to develop and maintain new features for this solution as scale and requirements evolve.

Case studies

Rob Neil Photography

Photographer Rob Neil is an independent professional photographer covering a range of subject matter. He wanted a site to showcase and promote his work that would have a long shelf-life and be easy to maintain. We designed a multiple-portfolio site with prominent calls-to-action in each section to maximise user response. We built the site in WordPress using native CMS components and the fewest possible plugins. The finished site is a simple, fast and reliable portfolio with no distracting animations or gimmicks. The client is able to manage it himself and has ongoing support from us as part of our standard hosting package.

RVPN

Rainbow Violence Prevention Network (RVPN) is a nationwide collective of organisations and individuals who work in various stages of violence prevention. The collective’s WordPress site required being updated for accessibility. Webstruxure rebuilt the site so it met the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) international standards for digital accessibility. The updated interface includes high contrast text for readability and tabbable menus and content that accommodates text-to-speech (TTS), or voice-controlled navigation.

Fulbright New Zealand

The site for US-NZ exchange awards programme Fulbright New Zealand is a valuable source of news and information and a key call-to-action for applicants and stakeholders. However, over time the wealth of documentation had become confusing to navigate for public users and difficult for Fulbright staff to maintain. To resolve this we revised the site navigation, information architecture and user interface to improve the user experience. In parallel, we overhauled the site’s backend functionality to make it easier for Fulbright staff to maintain. The updated site is designed to support staff, applicants and grantees into the next decade.
